7.06 Rollovers and Hotspots

Builder

Construction Goals

  • Use Fireworks to create text images.
  • Create rollover effects in Dreamweaver.
  • Create an image map.

Pictures or signs are often used for navigating a building’s interior. A picture of stairs next to the stairwell door, a photo of a stack of books next to the library entrance, or a famous painting as you enter a gallery are examples of these visual navigation clues.

Using images as navigation on a Web site can be a powerful tool. By selecting the right images, placing them correctly on the page, and using some of the features built into Dreamweaver, image navigation can be both functional and attractive.

In this lesson, we will learn how to create or modify images in Fireworks and then place them in Dreamweaver for navigation. This will include using rollovers and creating image maps.
