The Everglades is a legally protected national park. The Everglades is home to a numerous amount of plant and animal species. Some of these species are found no where else on Earth. The area has many different ecosystems within it creating one large very unique ecosystem. 
Scientist also use the area for research and an outdoor laboratory. There are many things to do while visiting the area as well. The park covers 1.5 million acres in all. There are many activities that can be done in park, such as hiking.
