oktoberfest, cape coral

Oktoberfest has just recently passed in the city of Cape Coral where it has celebrated its 22nd year in the region. This event had begun on the 19th of October and had ended on the 28th of October. This date is due to the german roots of this event.

The reason Oktoberfest was started as a celebration of the marriage of Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen in 1810 and because of the after events of the wedding it was renewed at a later time. During the wedding party the community enjoyed it so much that the ceremony lasted two-weeks as an open-air festival and has been continued since 1812 when it was celebrated again in commemoration of the wedding. Each year preceding the event more and more events were added and became what we know today as Oktoberfest. Today in America, Oktoberfest is celebrated as a traditional German festival to celebrate the German heritage.
