A Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd

 

Lynyrd Skynyrd is Southern Rock band that was very famous during the 1970’s. Led by vocalist and songwriter Ronnie Van Zant, they made several timeless hits until a fatal plane crassh in 1977 that killed most of the members including Zant.

The band was named after the gym teacher at Robert E. Lee high school, Leonard Skinner. Lynard Skynyrd was unique in that their triple lead guitar sound made their songs like “Free Bird” and “Sweet Home Alabama” instant classics. Members included: singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarists Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, Ed King, and Steve Gaines, bassist Leon Wilkeson, keyboard player Billy Powell, and drummers Bob Burns and Artimus Pyle.
