Yellowstone History
Yellowstone was established in 1842. The name "Yellowstone" comes from the River of the same name.
The river's name's etymology itself in unclear. It might have reffered to the yellow rocks below the Grand Canyon or the sandstone bluffs that are on its shores.
The park is also home toFort Yellowstone. This was the permanent post of the cavalry during the late 19th century. Old faithful inn is also one of the last log hotels in all of America. The park became a preserved area so that people could enjoy it. Yellowstone was the first national park in America, and still one of the best.
